Maruti Suzuki has added more safety features as standard and additional paint shade options to its midsize Ciaz. The updates include ESP and Hill-Hold Assist as standard across all variants and dual-tone color options on the top-spec Alpha trim.
The updates aim to keep the nearly nine-year-old Ciaz competitive in the midsize sedan segment, which has seen newer competition. However, it’s worth noting that the Ciaz still offers fewer airbags than many of its rivals.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz update 2023 more safety features
The Ciaz still comes with ABS, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, and dual front airbags, but it’s worth noting that many of its rivals offer up to six airbags, especially on their higher variants.
Maruti Suzuki provides three dual-tone paint choices for the Ciaz, which are Pearl Metallic Opulent Red, Pearl Metallic Grandeur Grey, and Dignity Brown, and all come with a black roof. This option is exclusive to the top-spec Alpha model and comes at an additional cost of Rs 16,000 compared to the regular paint.
The manual dual-tone Alpha version is priced at Rs 11.15 lakh, while the automatic variant costs Rs 12.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
Key Features of Suzuki Ciaz
The Ciaz’s mechanical configuration remains unaltered, which means it still uses a 105hp, 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine, available in combination with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic.
The engine is equipped with mild-hybrid technology, and Maruti Suzuki claims that the manual variant has a fuel efficiency of 20.65kpl, while the automatic variant has a fuel efficiency of 20.04kpl.
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Upcoming Model
Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce additional connected car technology features to its S-Connect system. The upcoming generation of the Ciaz is anticipated to feature contemporary technologies such as hill hold and hill descent.
A sunroof, which has become a popular feature offered by many automakers, is also expected to be added to the 2023 Ciaz, given that the Honda City and Hyundai Verna already offer sunroof variants.
The Ciaz’s current K15 1.5-litre petrol engine, which generates 103bhp and 138Nm of torque, is expected to remain unchanged as it is a suitable powertrain for the sedan. However, considering the joint venture between Maruti Suzuki and Toyota, it is possible that a full hybrid version of the Ciaz with increased fuel efficiency will be available. Additionally, it is expected that the 2023 Ciaz will feature a six-speed automatic torque converter instead of a CVT gearbox.
According to Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the addition of three new dual-tone color options and extra safety features to the new Ciaz has made them thrilled to introduce it.
The Ciaz has been a popular choice among customers, achieving significant success and completing eight years in the market. With the new version, they aim to further strengthen their position in the premium mid-size sedan segment.
